Synthetic Grass For Pets
Posted by Matt Garrabrants on
Many people do not think that the installation of synthetic grass would do a favor to their pets. They consider the natural grass to be ideal for pets to play and dump. While natural grass remains the favorite of pets, many now like to roll around in fake turf. A significant number of pet owners are installing synthetic grass as a playing surface for their pets. Artificial grass is easier to maintain and there are special varieties available that provide simple maintenance even if your pets make a lot of waste.
Why Pets Matter
There will be only a few people who would not like their pets. The question is thus not related to the likability of pets. It is geared towards the management of waste generated by pets and providing them with a comfortable playing surface. Many homes in the western world do not have large backyards or lawns for the pets to play. Even those with backyards cannot afford allowing their cats and dogs to play openly.
There is always a chance of a cat or a dog entering into your precious vegetable fields and flower beds. Cats in particular are fond of resting in areas where you have planted vegetables. They also like to dig and chew any seeds they could find and this would upend whatever home gardening plans you had in your mind.
Ideal Pet Flooring
You thus need to find an ideal flooring material for your pets. Fake grass can provide you with a perfect playing space for your pets. You will find the advantage of using artificial grass after looking at the downside of using natural grass.
It is not recommended to create a playing space for pets using natural grass as you will need to replace it every so often. Pets, especially cats, love to roll in grass and tear apart the saplings. This may continue unabated can drain you of resources as you cannot replace the grass every week. The best way to avoid this from happening is to allocate an area for your cats to play. This area should have synthetic grass installed in it.
Fake grass will not be damaged by cats if you have chosen a sturdier variety. Fibers in the artificial grass are packed in such a manner that they are resistant to rough use and scratching. Your cat or dog will perch comfortably on the grass and you will not see visible signs of damage.
Maintenance
Synthetic grass is easier to maintain. There are concerns about cleaning if you are using artificial turf for pets. The most commonly asked question is related to pet excrement and on how to remove it. Some think that the pet waste creates unbearable smell due to the presence of synthetic fibers in artificial grass. In reality, the smell is not much different from what you have observed in natural grass.
You can clean the fake grass by using the prescribed brush in the user manual. Scrape off the waste as you would do in natural grass and use a mild detergent to clean the turf. There will be no smell and the grass will remain green and healthy.
