How to Successfully Purchase Artificial Grass
Posted by Matt Garrabrants on
Purchasing artificial grass is a task that is easier said than done, and many consumers have found themselves feeling rather disappointed with the end product. The reason for this is not because of some defect or deficiency in the latent quality of synthetic grass, but rather, an indication that the consumer has not done sufficient research to secure synthetic grass that is most suitable for their needs.
Therein lies one of the greatest mistakes for prospective purchasers of artificial grass: contrary to popular belief, there are many different types of artificial grass, each with its own drawbacks and advantages associated with it.
With that in mind then, how can the consumer ensure that the final purchase decision they make is the right one, and not one that they will subsequently regret further down the line?
Check samples
Many vendors and suppliers of synthetic grass will provide prospective customers with the opportunity to view and feel the material prior to a purchase being made. This can be invaluable because it provides the consumer with a golden opportunity to verify that the material is indeed of the color, texture, consistency and buoyancy that they want or need.
You may also want to verify if the artificial grass suppler also happens to have a showcase of recent installations that you can check to see if it is suitable for your needs.
Ascertain what protections are on offer
In addition to your statutory rights, consumers are strongly advised to enquire as to what sort of warranties and guarantees are included with the artificial turf; as these can vary and oftentimes, dramatically, between different retailers and suppliers.
Be aware of surcharges and potential concessions
Some vendors will offer generous discounts for bulk purchases, either providing a reduction of the purchase price per unit of measurement, or slashing the total price at the end of the purchase. However, be aware as to what the rules are concerning delivery, as this can sometimes be rather costly.
Check what other products are on offer
Reputable suppliers will also provide supplementary items and paraphernalia associated with the installation of fake grass, including (but not restricted to) infill material, sand beds, latex based backing for the turf, as well as safety padding.
Be willing to accept help
There is a world of difference between purchasing synthetic grass, and actually installing it successfully into your front lawn and this can be a technically demanding and exhausting process that requires the input, guidance and supervision of a qualified expert. If you do have concerns as to whether or not you will be able to perform the necessary installation process yourself, do not be a hero: ask for help.
That said; take care to verify the precise expenses that will be incurred in the event that you do decide to have your artificial turf installed. Some suppliers will perform the installation process either for free or a discounted rate; others will charge a premium for such a service. Thrash out these details prior to making a commitment.
