Is Fake Grass Good for Pets?
Posted by Matt Garrabrants on
Pet owners are experimenting with fake grass and have found it surprisingly good. The trend started in the early 1990s when artificial grass become easily available to home users. It was the time when people were looking for an alternative to natural grass as it had proven too difficult to maintain. Pet owners were in serious jeopardy as they could not control their pets from ruining the lawn grass and also did not have the money to undergo regular replacements. This is where fake grass came into play and offered a viable alternative.
Problems with Natural Grass There are many problems associated with natural grass. First, it is the rough play by the pets who ruin the grass. It is common to see barren patches in the lawn as pets love to dig deeper and uproot the grass fibers. Your time and money spent on growing and maintaining a lawn will go waste. Then there is the problem of animal waste even if you manage to cut down on the deforestation campaign. You will ultimately end up cordoning off a large portion of the lawn thus confining your pets to a small place that they will not like.
Fake Turf Advantage
Thanks to new inventions, it is now possible to replace natural grass with fake turf. Millions of people around the world have let go of natural grass and have replaced it with artificial lawn. They have been happy about it as hardly anyone goes back to nature after seeing the benefits of modern technology. Artificial grass is not much different from its natural counterpart. It is as green and as shiny and has the same texture. The only difference is in construction where artificial grass is made of synthetic fibers that can withstand heat and pressure. The fake turf is a sturdy contraption that can stay put for years if you take proper care of it.
Fake turf will also come in handy if you want to provide your pets with a comfy playing space. Consider the benefit of having a fake grass that does not get easily mauled over by your dogs or cats. The texture and feel of artificial grass will not put off the pets either. They like the comfy feeling of the grass and will love to roll and play on it.
Maintenance
The best advantage of artificial grass is that it is easier to maintain. While it is difficult to remove waste from natural grass where you could uproot it, special varieties of fake turf do not have this problem. They are sturdier and constructed in such a manner that you can easily whisk away the debris and waste without damaging the fibers. You can also hose down the grass as many times as you want though it is better to stick to the standard instructions. Your cats and dogs may still scratch the surface but they will find it harder to uproot fake grass than its natural counterpart. More importantly, the lack of access to actual soil beneath will put them off after a few attempts thus securing your installation.
